How delivery works
- Frozen beef travels to Alaska in reefer containers on the regular liner and barge services from Puget Sound, then by truck, rail or barge to the port.
- Remote ports such as Dutch Harbor and Kodiak need more lead time. Fishing fleets and processors usually order before the season opens, and we can hold stock for scheduled departures.
- Long trips in the Bering Sea and the Gulf of Alaska call for bulk frozen crew-mess beef packed to hold at 0°F (−18°C) in the vessel's freezers.
